Vazhikkadavu is a small town in Nilambur taluk of Malappuram district, India. It is located on the CNG (Calicut-Nilambur-Gudalur) road 20 km north-east of Nilambur town. Just after Vazhikkadavu town the ghat road (known as Nadukani Churam) starts through forests leading to Nadukani (20 km away) in Nilgiris district. The Kerala-Tamil Nadu border is at about 10 km from Vazhikkadavu. The town has hotels, restaurants and shops open 24x7. There are buses to Manjeri, Perinthalmanna, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, etc. Moreover, inter-state buses to Gudalur, Ooty, Mysore, Mandya, Hasan, Bangalore and Sulthan Bathery pass through Vazhikkadavu. Check posts of Sales tax, Forest and Motor Vehicle departments are also present here. There is a huge demand for last many years for making Kozhikode - Nilambur - Ooty as National Highway. The river Karakkodan puzha flows through Vazhikkadavu town and joins Maruthappuzha at Munda. Through the south-eastern part of Vazhikkadavu panchayath Punnappuzha flows. There are tarred roads from Vazhikkadavu to Karakkode, Vellakkatta, Poovathippoyil, Marutha (through Mamankara) and Nellikkuth (from Manimooli). Manimooli is a developing town on the way to Vazhikadavu from Nilambur. Before settlement of catholic church, Allopathic and Ayurveda hospitals, post office, state bank of India and co-operative bank etc.the serene atmosphere of the region was dominated by the murmuring sound developed from the bamboo trees during the blow of wind, and thus the name occurred for the place. The soil is suspected to have the element gold, but no attempt made so far for the recovery. Notable personalities at vazhikadavu includes Shahid Rahman and Shameel Bin Jameel. == Places of worship == The Karakkode Durga Devi Temple and Sri Ramananda Ashramam is the most famous Hindu pilgrim centre in Nilambur Area. The temple is very old. It is under the management of Ramananda Ashramam. H.H. Swami Sreedharananda is the founder of ashrama.
