Vazhavallan is a village in Thoothukudi district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. A town Eral, a well designed market, with a neat, straight and narrow road approximately 1.5 km long with about a thousand shops on either side was part of the Vazhavallan panchayat. It was located in Srivaikundam taluk. A stream cuts the village into two halves. The people living here are mostly Hindu nadars; the nadars are classified into A and B. the A nadars are a majority in this village. The A nadars are classified into karungan nadar eruvappa and nadar kulaikka nadar. Vazhavallan was known as Iruvappa nadar kudi irrupu previously. As there were three groups formed, Iruvappa nadar kudi irrupu has been changed to Vazhavallan. Iruvappa nadar are the descendants of this village and they are also known as " pandia mannar parambarai". Most of the Iruvappa nadars are very rich in Chennai and other major cities. The Iruvappa nadar are the kings of the village. Iruvappa and karungan nadars are also kind of sokkarans. They live in village together like brothers and sisters. Historically this village was the centre part of the ancient city Korkai. The people of this village were rich in trade and ate on gold plates before the Muslim and nayakas invasion. The Puthusamy, Parama Sakthi Amman temple located here has rich ancient history. The chief god of this temple is said to be the last pandya king koon pandyan's son. Now the major work of people is agriculture. This village town was situated in the bank of Thamiraparani.
