Population: ==History== Ostrogozsk is the historical center of Eastern Sloboda Ukraine. It was established in 1652 by Ukrainian Cossacks (Chernigiv and Nizhyn regiments) as a fortress Ostrog. Than it granted a town status in 1765, and all families of kossak regiments were settled in that town. In 1917-1919 town controls by Ukrainian Republic and the Hetmanate and government - more than 90% citizens was Ukrainians. Since 1920 Ostrogozsk belonged to Soviet Russia and obtained a regional center status of Voronezh oblast' in 1928.
