Capys

In Roman and Greek mythology, Capys (; ) was a name attributed to three individuals:
*King of Dardania during the Iliad and Aeneid. He was a son of Assaracus and Hieromneme (daughter of Simois), and father of Anchises by his wife Themiste, sister of Laomedon and daughter of Ilus and Eurydice and so grandfather of Aeneas. He, or a different Capys, founded the city of Capua.〔Virgil ''Aeneid'' 10.145〕〔Homer ''The Iliad'' 20.153-258〕
*The Trojan who warned not to bring the Trojan horse into the city.〔Virgil ''Aeneid'' 2.35-38〕
*Mythological king of Alba Longa and descendant of Aeneas. Said to have reigned from 963 to 935 BC.〔Dionysius of Halicarnassus ''Roman Antiquities'' 1.71〕
According to Roman sources,〔Isaac Taylor ''Etruscan Researches'' (Macmillan and Co. 1874) p.317 referencing Servius〕 in the Etruscan language the word ''capys'' meant "hawk" or "falcon" (or possibly "eagle" or "vulture").
