The battle ended in a stalemate but was seen as a tactical victory for the Spanish Nationalist Forces. Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, a keen huntsman, conducted shooting trips in the town during his period of leadership. In early June 2013, the McCann advertising agency won the 'Silver Sun' in the Latin American Festival of Advertising Communication after an innovative campaign that the agency completed free-of-charge in Brunete. The campaign responded to a public dog excrement problem, and involved a remote control device that would chase after offending pet owners and a system that would result in the excrement being mailed to the homes of the offending pet owners.
