Bionade-Biedermeier

Bionade-Biedermeier, is a German neologism combining Bionade, a trendy lemonade brand and the word Biedermeier, an era in middle Europe between 1815 and 1848. It has been coined in 2007 by German journalist Henning Sußebach. He used it to describe the lifestyle in Berlins Prenzlauer Berg district in an article published by Die Zeit. The term is a German equivalent of e.g. LOHAS and Bobo (Bohémiens bourgeoises'')'' and gained some media attention and expanded use since.
''Bionade'' refers to the importance and significance of nourishments for a well-to-do alternative milieu. Biedermeier refers to parallels between the historical Biedermeier and the German present. ''Neo-Biedermeier'' has been used before to describe the current young generation in Germany. The underlying allusion is being used as well in related wordings like ''Bionade-Bourgeoisie'', ''Biohème'' and ''Generation Biedermeier.''
== Sußebachs article ==

2007 Henning Sußebach described the Prenzlauer Berg (Prenzelberg) as a experimental field of "New Germany" and Biotop of the rich and creative and young urban professionals. Prenzlauer Berg, a former part of the Eastern city center of Berlin, has seen significant increases in the amount of academics, faced intense gentrification and went through a exchange of half of the population between 1995 und 2000.〔 The quartier has a lot of foreigners, but typically from the G8, less working class of e.g. Turkish origin but a significant amount of academic expatriates and e.g. more Japanese than Egyptians.〔 Tolerance towards foreigners is less of a (class) problem than elsewhere.
