Strabo locates the deadly spring below the slopes of Mount Telphosion, near Haliartos and Alalkomenai; he mentions the sanctuary of Tiresias and the temple of Telphousian Apollo, unique to this site.〔Strabo 'Geography' 9. 2. 27 and 36〕 Pausanias noted that a temple consecrated to the Praxidikai was in the vicinity of Tiresias's tomb.
