In the Forest Zone in the State of Pernambuco, the “ticuqueiro” is a rural worker responsible for removing the weed around the shoot of sugar cane plantations and for the harvest. The Ticuqueiros have always created the folklore in the region developing cultural expressions like the maracatu, the cavalo-marinho, the coco, the ciranda, the carnival troupe and the forró.
