Tauche (Lower Sorbian ''Tuchow'') is a municipality on both sides of the river Spree in the Oder-Spree district, in Brandenburg, Germany. The large municipality consists of 12 parts (German: Ortsteile) respectively villages with other local parts/settlements. The seat of the municipal administration is located in the namegiving village Tauche. In Sabrodt was born in 1813 the Prussian Australia-explorer and naturalist Ludwig Leichhardt. Therefore the federal state of Brandenburg gave the village Trebatsch in 1998 the additional name „Leichhardt Gemeinde“ (German for: Leichhardt municipality).〔Awarding the additional name "Leichhardt-Gemeinde": Bekanntmachung des Ministeriums des Innern vom 27.
