The main occupations represented in the village's population are agriculture and transportation. Like other residents of the villages in the Doaba region, Sahlon's villagers live mostly abroad. The population of the village is approximately 1,800, the majority of which belong to the Bhatti Rajput people, which is a sub-division of the Sikh Rajputs. The village has one government high school, and one cattle dispensary. The nearest city center is Nawanshahr, which is away, and the nearest town is Banga, which is 11 kilometers from the village.
