According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), at the end of December 2014 the city had a total population of 60,400〔(Rahat, city profile ) (Hebrew)〕 (53,095 in December 2010〔(【引用サイトリンク】format=PDF )〕 and 51,700 in December 2009). As such, it is the largest Bedouin settlement in the world, and the only one in Israel to have city status.
