Playism is an indie-focused PC game digital distribution platform which was launched by Active Gaming Media (株式会社 アクティブゲーミングメディア) in May 2011. Playism offers localization, debugging, and publishing for indie developers interested in releasing their games to foreign markets. In addition to both paid and free indie games, Playism also offers a pay what you want system for some of its titles. While Playism exists as an independent brand, the members of the Playism team are part of Active Gaming Media and share the same office space. Members of the Active Gaming Media localization department are often involved in Playism game localization, particularly in English to Japanese localizations. ==Structure== Playism's distribution structure is similar to those of services such as GOG.com. Rather than employing a separate client such as Steam, users download purchased games directly from the Playism website. They have also started to distribute on a variety of platforms including Steam, Google Play and iOS.
