In 1996, ''Outburn'' was first published, and five issues per year since that time have come out.〔 The current executive editor and co-publisher is Octavia Laird with the other co-publisher and editor being Rodney Kusano.〔
The magazine had it reviews used by Metacritic for issue No. 23.
