Naghma

Naghma ((パシュトー語:نغمه ښاپېرۍ); born Shaperei in late 1950s) is a prominent Afghan singer who started in the early 1980s. She and her ex-husband, Mangal, were a popular musical duo who dominated Afghan music scene during the 1980s and early 1990s. Naghma sings mostly in Pashto, but also occasionally in Dari.
==Early years==
Naghma was born as ''Shaperei'' ((パシュトー語:ښاپېرۍ), literally meaning "fairy") in Kandahar, Afghanistan.〔(Profile: Shaperai Naghma )〕 Like many other Afghan families, the Russian invasion and the subsequent Afghan civil war forced Naghhma and her family to leave Afghanistan temporarily. She first moved to India, then settled in Pakistan for a period and eventually settled in the United States in the year 2000.
Naghma married her new husband and resides in Kabul, Afghanistan; Islamabad, Pakistan; and California, United States.
