(1978). ''The Oxford Dictionary of Saints''. Oxford: Oxford University Press.〕 She was the youngest sister of Saint Mildburh of Wenlock and Saint Mildrith.〔(Baring-Gould, S., "S. Mildgytha V.", ''Lives of the Saints'', Vol. I, John Grant, Edinburgh, 1914 )〕 The three sisters have been likened to the three theological virtues: Mildburh to faith, Mildgyth to hope, and Mildrith to charity.〔(O.S.B., "St. Mildred and Her Kinsfolk", ''Virgin Saints of the Benedictine Order'' )〕 She was a Benedictine nun and later abbess of a Northumbrian convent.
