LISICON compounds have relatively high ionic conductivities, on the order of 10−6 S/cm, which are caused by hopping of Li ions among interstitial sites of the LISICON crystal lattice. The conductivities are almost 100 times higher in thio-LISICONs, where oxygen is replaced by sulfur.〔 LISICONs are used as solid electrolytes in batteries, such as nickel–lithium battery.
