Kot

Kot is the surname of a Polish szlachta (nobility) family.
Although its literal meaning is cat, the surname origin is probably Polish mediaeval name of a person who starts settling people in a village or in a town. The first mention of the name was in the 13th century.
The Kot family uses the Doliwa, Pilawa, Rola, or Kot Morski coat of arms.
