Klassart

Klassart is an Icelandic blues band which was formed in Sandgerði on 19 November 2006. The band's lyrics are mostly in English, except for the song "Örlagablús", even though all members are native Icelanders.
Klassart was started by Smári Guðmundsson, older brother of the lead singer, Fríða Dís Guðmundsdóttir. Their older brother Palmar Guðmundsson joined the band in 2009.〔(Klassart (IS) ), Artists 2010, Iceland Airwaves, retrieved 20 December 2010.〕
In 2006, the band won the Rás 2 blues competition.〔〔(Klassart - Gamli grafreiturinn ), Tónlist.is, 17 December 2010, retrieved 20 December 2010 〕 The John Prine cover "Gamli grafreiturinn" from their 2010 album, ''Bréf frá París'', reached the top of the Icelandic charts.〔〔245.is, Lífið í Sandgerði, 7 September 2010: "Á laugardaginn var vinsældarlisti Rásar 2 fyrir vikuna 29. – 04. september kynntur og var Klassart þar í efsta sæti með lagið sitt "Gamli grafreiturinn". - "The Rás 2 chart for the week of 29 () - 4 September was released on Saturday and Klassart was in first place on it with its track "Gamli grafreiturinn".〕〔(Netlistinn viku 39, 2010 ), Tónlist.is, - "Gamli grafreiturinn" in 2nd position〕
The band has played at many places in different parts of Iceland. They played at the Icelandic Blues Festival in Reykjavík on 20 March 2008 and at the Iceland Airwaves in October 2010.〔
