Kiruna : ウィキペディア英語版
Kiruna

(Northern Sami: ', Finnish: ') is the northernmost town in Sweden, situated in the province of Lapland. It had 18,148 inhabitants in 2010〔 and is the seat of Kiruna Municipality (population: 23,099 in 2008) in Norrbotten County.
The city's vicinity shares a long history with the indigenous Sami people, with evidence of at least 6000 years of settlement. The city of Kiruna was founded in 1900 and quickly became a major centre of iron ore extraction and mining industry. During World War II, large quantities of iron were transported from Kiruna by rail to the east coast, and further down to be sold to Germany.
Esrange Space Center was established in Kiruna in the 1960s. Also in Kiruna are the Institute of Space Physics〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=IRF Kiruna )〕 and the Department of Space Science belonging to Luleå University of Technology.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Welcome to the Department of Space Science )
