Katihar is a town situated in the north eastern part of Bihar state in India. It is headquarters of Katihar district. Tariq Anwar is present M.P of Katihar. Katihar Junction railway station is an important railway station on Indian railway map. Katihar Junction railway station is a division in NFR. It is a very old station. Katihar Junction railway station is a five line junction: * 1st line goes to Barauni ( Patna , Delhi , Mumbai ), * 2nd line to Kumedpur ( Kolkata ) * 3rd line to Purnea from where branches to Saharsa and Jogbani ( Nepal border), * 4th line to Barsoi from where branches to Guwahati and Radhikapur ( Bangladesh Border ), * 5th line to Manihari Katihar is also the headquarter of Katihar Railway Division. Katihar is also well connected with road network to the neighbouring cities of bihar and neighbour state.NH 31 passes through the middle of the city.
