== Plot ==
This is the parallel story of a love story and a war. Dhupati Hari Babu (Varun Tej) is a lower caste man studying in Chennai, in 1936. He falls in love with Rachakonda Sita Devi (Pragya Jaiswal) who studies in Madras and end up falling in love with each other. And after finishing their college, they go back to their hometown, a village named Devarakonda. Hari makes friends with Eeshwar (Nikitin Dheer), Seeta's brother who is very close with her. Eeshwar eventually finds out about the love birds, and tells his grandfather who raised them about Hari and Seeta's love story. His grandfather then raises a fight between castes in the village, and believes that when all the castes are fighting, it will kill Hari as well. The fights get very serious, and hundreds of people start dying from both the sides. This causes the villagers to set up 2 fences for each caste side, and no one from either of the castes is supposed to cross the fence of the latter. While all this happens, Eeshwar and his grandfather find a nice groom for Seeta and try to marry her off to that man.
While this instances take place in the village, Hari is not in town. When he comes back, some people try to kill him, but with great difficulty he overpowers them. One of them stabs Hari, and Seeta looks after him secretly in her bedroom. On the wedding day, Hari gets frustrated and takes Seeta downstairs, and in front of her grandfather, marries her then and there, with the blessings of Seeta's grandmother. In the evening, Eeshwar comes to know about this and fights Hari, but in the scuffle, Eeshwar accidentally kills his sister.
He joins the army during World War 2 and learns that Eeshwar is his commanding officer. The Nazi's attack the military base and take everyone captive, including Eeshwar and their commanding officer. But Hari, another Telugu speaking but cowardly officer Dasu (Srinivas Avasarala) and three other British officers escape. They decide they have to save their team mates, and follow the Nazi's and end up in a town, where they take shelter in an Italian Baker's house for sometime. The baker's granddaughter (who saves them when the Nazi's come to their house) tells them about a German doctor who married a Jew (the mission of Nazi's (Led by Adolf Hitler ) was to finish off the Jews in world war 2, and they killed 60 lakhs of Jews) and had a daughter with her. She says the Nazi's want to kill the little girl. They end finding the doctor with a bunch of civilians captured by the Nazis, and a German leader wants to kill them. Since Hari experienced similar instances, he cannot hold it back any longer and with his teammates, saves the civilians. They beg him and his teammates to take them with them, and after strong pleading, they agree. They keep hunting for their teammates, and finally find them. They hide in a ruined building and attack the Nazi's from in there, and even Dasu manages to get brave enough to kill one of the officers. Though Eeshwar is hit with a bullet, Hari and everyone else manages to save their teammates.
When Eeshwar questions him about why did he save him even after so much of anger hidden in his heart, Hari replies saying he did it for Seeta, since she always loved Eeshwar and she never wanted anything to happen to him. They escape with the civilians, and finally find a German Base, right next to a river which can help them escape. When Hari makes up a plan, Eeshwar, who still hates him egoistically points out that there is a flaw in the plan. That is when Hari reminds him of the gang war in the village, and racism is why World War 2 started in the first place. He didn't want to repeat the same bloodshed over stupid reasons. They all Valiantly fight in the battle, and raid all the base tents, whereas they escape on a boat with everyone of the civilians. Hari valiantly fights even after every one is on the boat, since he knows the soldiers in the German camp could easily gun down the boat. So he fights valiantly till the boat reaches a safe place, and dies like a hero. Eeshwar sees all this, and is surprised. Upon making to Hari that if he dies in the war, Eeshwar will take his body to the village, he asks Hari's grandfather to dig a grave. He bury's the series of letters(through which the whole flashback is told) and realises that castes do not decide a human beings character. He also states that Hari was a great human, soldier, lover, son and an unrecognized friend. He tearfully says if not for a borderline called caste, he would have at least had his love with him before his death. His grandmother then explains that humans are supposed to live with harmony, peace and oneness and not with fences (which means 'Kanche in Telugu'). Then she orders her people to break the fence that their castes made, so that people could live with peace. The movie ends on a happy note.
