Iuka is the name of five communities in the central-southeastern United States. These communities were named after the Chickasaw Indian Chief Iuka. His name is a contraction of ''Ish-ta-ki-yu-ka-tubbe.'' Chief Iuka participated in the ratification of the 1832 Treaty of Pontotoc Creek, an action that led to the ceding of Chickasaw lands east of the Mississippi River.
