Inshorts

Inshorts (previously known as News In Shorts) is a Delhi-based company that is known for its content discovery and distribution application for Android and iOS. It aggregates news and other content such as videos, infographics, and blogs, and summarizes them in 60 words or less. As of April 2015 its app had received more than one million downloads and was one of the highest rated Indian news apps.
==History==

Inshorts was founded by Azhar Iqubal, Deepit Purkayastha, and Anunay Arunav, all three of whom were dropouts from the Indian Institutes of Technology. Originally called "News In Shorts", the company later rebranded itself as Inshorts. It was launched as a Facebook page in 2013 before being shortlisted as one of Nasscom's 10,000 Startups.〔 It was incubated at TLabs and in 2014 raised funding from Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, co-founders of Flipkart.〔 Additional early investors include Ankush Nijhawan, Gaurav Bhatnagar, Manish Dhingra, and Times Internet.〔
The company launched its app on Android first in 2013, following up with iOS in 2015. By February of that year, it was receiving 10,000 downloads per week.〔 Series A funding for the company closed in February 2015 with $4 million being led by Tiger Global. Additional investors included the Bansals of Flipkart and Rebright Partners.〔 It closed a Series B round the same year with $20 million being raised. That round was led by existing investor Tiger Global.〔
In 2015, Inshorts rebranded from its founding name, News In Shorts. Part of the rebranding also included expanding the content beyond news aggregation, adding videos, infographics, and blogs.〔 In October 2015, it acquired Betaglide, a fellow TLabs incubated business. Betaglide is the creator of Retention.ai which tracks the uninstallation of apps to help with customer retention, the technology for which was incorporated into Inshorts.
As of April 2015 its app had received more than one million downloads and was one of the highest rated news app.
