The Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (German: ''Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau'', in short:FiBL), is an independent, non-profit research institute in the field of organic agriculture. It is located in Frick, Switzerland with branches in Germany and Austria. Currently, it employs about 150 people. Since 1989, (Urs Niggli ) has been the director of FiBL. ==History== The institute was founded in Switzerland in 1973 by a group organic farmers together with scientists in order to support organic farmers through research projects and advisory services. In 1997, it changed its locations to Frick.
