The town Domokos is the seat of the municipality of Domokos〔(Kallikratis law ) Greece Ministry of Interior 〕 and of the former Domokos Province. The town is built on a mountain slope overlooking the plain of Thessaly, 36km from the city of Lamia. ==History== The ancient diocese of Domokos became Greek Orthodox in 1882, but was suppressed in 1899. A parallel series of Latin bishops was begun in 1204, and continued as a titular diocese down to 1943. The area of Domokos became part of Greece in 1881, when the Ottoman Empire ceded Thessaly and a few adjacent areas to Greece.
