DTOX
DTOX is a mobile recovery smartphone app that uses technology as a tool to help users struggling with addictions ranging from alcohol to chocolate. DTOX was founded in 2012 by Rae Dylan.
==Purpose==
According to the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, more than 17 million Americans suffer from some form of chemical and behavioral addiction. Addiction and abuse of drugs costs the United States over $600 billion annually in costs related to crime, lost work productivity, and health care. DTOX helps addiction recovery by allowing addicts to access a support group setting even when they are by themselves. It serves as a powerful tool by digitally replicating the communal rehabilitation process. Addicts are much less likely to relapse if they have unrestricted access to another sober addict who aids them in their recovery. DTOX provides this level of access because a smartphone is readily accessible at all times, which is especially important for early stages of recovery when addicts are most susceptible to relapse.〔
