Awagarh

Awagarh is a historic town and a Nagar Panchayat in Etah district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. IT is 80 kilometers away from Agra. Jadon Rajputs had large Thikana. Raja Balwant Singh, a Jadon Rajput built a college named after him as Raja Balwant Singh College at Agra. He donated hundreds of acres of land to the college. He also helped Rabindra Nath Tagore to set up Shantiniketan.

The main occupation of Awagarh is based on agriculture. Many nearby villages like gadanpur, mandpura, vasundhara,sehnaua, Veernagar, kuberpur etc. depends on Awagarh for their economy through agricultural products produced in these villages. Apart from agriculture,
Other main occupation is business of commodities.Famous lines of business here includes gold smith, jewelers, cloth merchant, sweets etc. Awagarh has played an important role in the history and cultural life of India.
