(), v. t.[imp. & p. p.Supplanted (); p. pr. & vb. n.Supplanting.] [F. supplanter, L. supplantare to trip up one's heels, to throw down; sub under + planta the sole of the foot, also, a sucker, slip, sprout. Cf. Plant, n.]
