In November, 2014, he announced plans to challenge conservative Kansas House Speaker Ray Merrick (R-Stillwell) for the Speaker seat.
Peck has been described as in Kansas Repubulicans' "conservative faction," probably to the right of fellow conservative, House Speaker Ray Merrick, whom he is challenging for the Speaker's position (in late 2014 / early 2015).〔
Peck's website lists him as, "Pro-Low Taxes, Pro-Life, Pro-Education, Pro-Business, Pro-Agriculture," and "Pro-2nd Amendment." He states, "''We need to address property tax relief, immigration reform, health care costs, state debt, and bring state government spending under control''."〔(Kansas State Rep.
