SportsBetting is a privately held online gambling company. Founded in 1999, the company is one of the largest gaming operators worldwide with over one million player accounts. Licensed in Antigua, SportsBetting has no country restrictions and is open to US players. SportsBetting.ag offers sports betting, wagering on horse racing, casino games, online poker and online skill-based games.
== History ==
SportsBetting was founded in 1999. As the brand grew, there began to be controversy surrounding some of their practices, specifically in regards to payouts. Players reported being unable to extract their funds and customer relations suffered. At the sportsbook’s low, its credit rating was reduced to a D+ by SportsBookReview. Specifically, the SportsBetting platform had been white labelled by other providers, like Win4Real. A rule disallowing users to bet in multiple SportsBetting platforms caused a number of players to be unable to extract their winnings.
On June 25, 2012, SportsBetting was acquired by the BetOnline Group. Terms of the deal were not publically disclosed. BOL was reportedly “shocked” upon purchasing SportsBetting to find over 1.5 million USD in liabilities that had not been reported by old management. -. The new management invested in repaying players and over a number of years, SportsBetting’s rating was raised to an A-.
After the ownership change in June 2012, the BetOnline Group quickly worked to resolve the financial liabilities from the old management. They made it a priority to erase the rollover customer payout debt. Other changes since the takeover include an overhaul of the sportsbook’s customer service wagering platforms.
