Smerdis : ウィキペディア英語版
Bardiya

Bardia or Bardiya ( ''Bardiya''; ''Smerdis'') (possibly died 522 BC) was a son of Cyrus the Great and the younger brother of Cambyses II, both Persian kings. There are sharply divided views on his life. He either ruled the Achaemenid Empire for a few months in 522 BC, or was impersonated by a magus called Gaumāta.〔This article does not take sides on this dispute, but further investigation of recent scholarship in both Iran and the West would be useful.〕 ()〔
==Name and sources==
The prince's name is listed variously in the historical sources. His Persian name is Bardia or Bardiya. He is called Tonyoxarces (''Sphendadates'') by Ctesias,〔Ctesias ''Pers.'' 8〕 he is called Tanooxares by Xenophon, who takes the name from Ctesias,〔Xenophon ''Cyrop. Vin.'' 7.ii〕 and he is called Mardos by Justin〔Aeschylus ''Pers.'' 774〕 and Aeschylus.〔Justin i.9, Mergis〕 In the prevalent Greek form of his name, ''Smerdis'', the Persian name has been assimilated to the Greek (Asiatic) name ''Smerdis'' or ''Smerdies'', a name which also occurs in the poems of Alcaeus and Anacreon.
In English-language histories he has traditionally been called Smerdis, but recent histories tend to call him Bardiya.〔Leick, Gewdolyn ''Who's Who in the Ancient Near East〕〔Van De Mieroop, Marc ''A History of the Ancient Near East''〕
