Kanawha County ( or ) is a county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 193,063,〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/54/54039.html )〕 making it the most populous county in West Virginia. Its county seat is Charleston,〔(【引用サイトリンク】accessdate=2011-06-07 )〕 the state capital.
Kanawha County is included in the Charleston, West Virginia Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The county began taking formation on November 14, 1788 under authorization of the Virginia General Assembly, and was founded on October 5, 1789.
